HAM Radio

Multiple Bands and modes

Amateur radio, often called ham radio is a licensed radio service that allows users to use multiple bands. Unlike the General Mobile Radio Service, amateur radio requires you to pass a test before obtaining a license. Ham Radio has three classes of license, these include technician at the entry level, then the general class, and the extra class. Each class requires the successful completion of a test administered by members of the amateur radio community called volunteer examiners, or. VEs. Of all the different types of radio services available, ham radio gives users the most freedom in the choice of equipment that they use and the bands they operate in. Amateur radio is a great choice for those wanting to take their radio hobby to the next level. It also allows for the use of repeaters in multiple bands and modes.
